Focus Group Testing

Focus group testing gathers a small, representative group of people to react to material and discuss it, producing qualitative insight into how an audience responds.[1] For audio, a target audience group can be played music, voices, or sound designs and asked how the work makes them feel and what it communicates.

A skilled moderator draws out honest, detailed reactions that numbers alone cannot capture, surfacing the reasons behind people's responses. The results guide creative refinement, though they are best read alongside broader research, since a small group cannot represent everyone.[2]
