Audio Routing & Systems

Audio routing is the deliberate organization of how signals flow through a system, from individual sources through groups and buses to final outputs.[1] A clear routing structure makes it possible to process and control many sounds together, for example by sending related elements to a shared bus for level control or effects.

In interactive and post production work, well designed routing underpins the mix, since it determines where processing is applied and how groups of sounds can be ducked, muted, or sent to different destinations. Thoughtful routing keeps complex projects manageable and ensures that changes can be made broadly and predictably rather than sound by sound.[2]
