Loudness Compliance

Loudness compliance is the practice of ensuring that audio meets the loudness standards required by broadcasters, streaming services, and regulators.[1] These standards specify target loudness and peak levels so that programs and advertisements sound consistent and listeners are not forced to adjust their volume between them.

Meeting them involves measuring loudness with standardized meters and adjusting the mix so it falls within the allowed range without harming its dynamics. Compliance is mandatory for much broadcast and streaming delivery, and getting it right avoids rejected deliverables and automatic loudness correction by the platform.[2]
