Modular Audio Systems

Modular audio systems are built from interchangeable components that can be combined and reconfigured to create different behaviors.[1] Each module performs a defined function, and connecting them in various ways lets designers assemble complex audio systems without rebuilding everything from scratch.

This modularity makes systems easier to maintain, reuse, and scale, since individual parts can be swapped or improved independently. The approach is common in interactive and generative audio, where flexible, composable building blocks support rapid iteration.[2]
