Remastering

Remastering is the creation of a new master from an existing recording, usually to improve its quality or to adapt it for a different format or platform.[1] It can involve transferring from original sources, then applying modern equalization, dynamics, and noise reduction to bring out detail that earlier masters could not capture.

The aim is to present the original performance at its best while respecting its character rather than rewriting it. Remastering is common when catalog material is reissued, restored, or prepared for higher resolution and immersive distribution.[2]
