Audio Replacement
Audio replacement is the substitution of a recorded element with a new or corrected version, used when the original is damaged, noisy, or otherwise unusable. It ranges from swapping a single problem word or sound effect to replacing entire passages while keeping them aligned to the rest of the track.
The challenge is to make the replacement seamless, matching the level, tone, and acoustic character of the surrounding material so the edit is undetectable. Done carefully, it rescues otherwise strong takes and keeps a soundtrack clean without the cost of re-recording everything.[1]
