Sound Supervision
Sound supervision is the oversight of a production's entire post production sound process, coordinating the dialogue, effects, Foley, and music teams toward a unified result.[1] The supervising editor sets the creative direction for the soundtrack, plans the schedule, and acts as the main point of contact with the director and picture editorial.
Beyond creative leadership, the role manages logistics such as deliverables, spotting sessions, and the flow of material between departments. Effective supervision keeps a large and specialized crew working to a shared vision, which is essential on projects where many people contribute to a single soundtrack.[2]
