Sound Design

Sound design is the practice of creating and assembling the non musical audio of a production, including effects, ambiences, and the distinctive sounds of objects, creatures, and environments.[1] A sound designer may record original material, manipulate existing recordings, or synthesize sounds from scratch, then shape them so they read clearly and support the story.

The work blends technical and creative judgment, since a single on screen action is often built from several layered sounds chosen for impact rather than literal accuracy. Across film, games, and interactive media, strong sound design gives a world its sense of weight, scale, and character, and guides where the audience pays attention.[2]
