Acoustic Design (Venues & Rooms)
Acoustic design is the shaping of physical spaces so they sound the way they should, whether the goal is clear speech, accurate monitoring, or an enveloping musical experience.[1] It applies the principles of architectural acoustics to control reflection, absorption, isolation, and resonance within a room or venue.
The work spans studios, theaters, and public spaces, and it considers both the sound inside a room and the noise that travels between rooms. Thoughtful acoustic design is most effective when it informs a project early, since the geometry and materials of a space are difficult and expensive to change later.[2]
