Solo Recording

Solo recording captures a single performer, whether an instrumentalist or a vocalist, and focuses the entire signal chain on faithfully reproducing one source. Microphone choice and placement, room character, and headphone monitoring are all tailored to that performer, which allows a high degree of detail and nuance in the result.

Because there is no bleed from other players, solo recordings are flexible in editing and mixing and are often layered to build larger textures. They are common for featured instruments, lead vocals, and intimate performances where clarity and expressive detail are the priority.[1]
