Choir Recording

Choir recording captures a group of singers performing together, with attention to the blend of voices, the balance between sections, and the acoustic space in which they sing.[1] Microphones are usually positioned to record the choir as a unified body, since the characteristic sound of a choir comes from many voices merging rather than from any single singer.

Choices about spacing, section layout, and room reverberation strongly affect the result, and additional spot microphones may reinforce specific sections when needed. For media work, choir recordings range from intimate vocal ensembles to large massed forces, and they are often layered to create an even bigger sound.[2]
