Music Supervision
Music supervision is the practice of selecting and licensing music for film, television, games, and advertising, and of managing the legal and budgetary side of using it.[1] A supervisor matches music to the creative needs of a scene, then secures the rights from the relevant owners so the production can use it lawfully.
The role combines creative judgment with rights expertise, since using a recording usually requires clearing both the underlying composition and the specific master recording. Good supervision keeps a project on budget and on schedule while finding music, whether well known or newly commissioned, that strengthens the work.[2]
