Remixing

Remixing is the creation of an alternative version of a recording by recombining and reworking its individual elements, often to change its style, length, or intended audience.[1] A remixer may re-balance existing parts, add new material, or rebuild the arrangement around the original vocals or hooks.

Remixes serve many purposes, from adapting a track for a different genre or venue to producing edits tailored to radio, clubs, or media placements. The practice depends on access to separated stems or multitracks, which give the remixer the freedom to reshape the recording while keeping its recognizable core.[2]
