Score Mixing

Score mixing is the process of balancing and treating the many tracks of a recorded score so that the music reads clearly and sits correctly within a larger soundtrack.[1] It involves setting relative levels, panning, equalization, dynamics, and reverberation so that sections and instruments combine into a cohesive whole.

Because a score usually shares the soundtrack with dialogue and effects, the mix is shaped with that final context in mind, leaving space for other elements while preserving the music's impact. The mixer also prepares deliverables in the required formats, from stereo to immersive multichannel, so the score integrates smoothly into final mixing.[2]
