Acoustics Setup

Acoustics setup is the configuration of how virtual environments treat sound, defining the way spaces reflect, absorb, and transmit audio so that what the listener hears matches what they see.[1] It establishes the reverberation, early reflections, and material behavior of rooms and zones within an interactive world.

A good setup makes a small room sound enclosed and a cavern sound vast, and it keeps these impressions consistent as the listener moves between spaces. Because realistic acoustics can be costly to compute, the work involves balancing physical accuracy against performance so that the environment feels believable without overloading the system.[2]
