Audio Porting
Audio porting is the adaptation of a title's sound to run on a different platform, accounting for differences in hardware, audio formats, output configurations, and performance budgets.[1] It ensures that a game built for one system sounds correct and runs reliably on another, whether that means a new console, a mobile device, or a virtual reality headset.
The work can involve reconverting assets, adjusting voice counts and memory use, and validating output across the speaker and headphone configurations each platform supports. Because every platform imposes its own constraints, porting is as much about preserving the intended experience as it is about technical compatibility.[2]
