Dubbing

Dubbing is the replacement of a production's original dialogue with a new recording, most often to present the content in another language.[1] Voice performers record translated lines that are written and timed to match the on screen mouth movements as closely as possible, then mixed in place of the original voices.

Good dubbing balances faithful translation with natural performance and convincing synchronization, which is a specialized craft in its own right. It relies on a clean music and effects stem so that only the voices change, allowing the rest of the soundtrack to remain intact across every language version.[2]
